CES, Las Vegas: Weiss introduces three new products aimed at the playback of high resolution files from a computer or network player:

The ATT202 Passive Attenuator

The ATT202 is a fully passive, stepped, resistive attenuator for balanced or unbalanced stereo signals. It can be used in place of a preamplifier to control the volume of a single source like e.g. a D/A converter.

It can be remote controlled which makes it very attractive for convenient operation.

The INT202 Firewire Interface

The INT202 is a small interface box for Firewire to AES/EBU and S/PDIF conversion. In addition the audio volume can be controlled in the digital domain via an infrared remote control unit. The INT202 finds its application in interfacing a PC or MAC computer to a D/A Converter unit. With the volume control feature it can also replace a preamplifier.

December 2007,106 Miss World Contestants Sing for The Olympics:

As the World counts down to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the official song for the Olympic Torch Relay, now has a version sung in English. The performers are the beauties entered in the upcoming Miss World
Pageant. 106 Miss World Contestants from over 100 countries and regions got into the recording studio November 19, 2007 for the sound track recording and the music video for the torch relay song. The
contestants said they were proud to play a part in the recording of the song and in helping to spread the Olympic spirit. The song is mastered by Kent Poon (Design w Sound, HongKong), composed and produced by Chris Babida. The mastering equipment includes a full set of Weiss EQ1- MK2, DS1-MK2, SFC2, ADC2, DAC1-MK2 and SARACON. Chris Babida studio also becomes the first studio in Asia that owns a full set of Weiss equipment. "The sound is superior to anything I have tried, and I'm glad to have such high quality tools in my studio" says Chris Babida.

The song will be ready for release in early December. It will debut at the final of the 57th Miss World Pageant in Sanya, Hainan province, to an audience of 2 billions viewers worldwide.

Weiss announces major expansion of High End range: New power amplifier, speakers and cables all playing for the first time at the New York Home entertainment Show.

The highly acclaimed weiss Jason CD Transport and Medea Digital to analog converter now form part of the new line up of High end products from Weiss. The new products include the Castor power amp, Calliope speakers and a full range of digital and analog cables named Chiron.

Said Daniel Weiss, President: "The Weiss philosophy, which has evolved from our 23 years in the professional market, is to have outstanding products that reproduce music while remaining total neutral. No coloration or "flavour" is allowed. We do not want to ad or take away anything from what is intended by the artist, but reproduce it exactly.

I wanted to make sure that the new products fit well with this philosophy and maintain the reputation that Jason and Medea have establisched for us in the High End market. The power amp, cables and speakers all offer the same understated looks combined with latest thinking and very high performance. Our plan is ultimately to have a complete range of High End units available for our customers to enjoy."

The Castor power amplifier is based on Class-D technology and brings a new level of performance in this category. Each mono block unit offers 600 Watts of power (4 Ohm) with extremely low output impedance, noise and distortion and a 50kHz bandwidth. Eeach amp also offers a level preset. Shipping will start in July 2007.

The Calliope speakers bring an ew level of accuracy and detail to High End speakers. Developed in partnership with speaker experts, the Calliope consists of two parts: Calliope and Calliope-Sub. The basic Calliope speaker has a frequency response of 40Hz to > 35kHz flat to within +-0.5dB and a 89dB sensitivity combined with a beautiful step response. The Calliope-Sub extends the low frequency response to below 29Hz. The resultant sound is very musical with outstanding resolution and detail. The basic units have a piano black frontpanel and Nextel body.

Chiron is the name for the Weiss cable range, which includes AES/EBU, anlog and speaker cables. They represent a very high quality sound at an affordable price point. Cables start shipping in June 2007.

Weiss Engineering joins the High-End Audio community.

Das erste Produkt in der High-End Serie ist der MEDEA D/A, ein Stereo, 24 Bit / 192kHz D/A Wandler mit einem kompromisslosen Design. Die digitalen Eingänge sind praktisch Jitterimmun, was durch eine zweistufige, auf einem digitalen Signalprozessor (DSP) basierende de-jittering Architektur erreicht wird. Im D/A Teil werden multi-bit sigma-delta Bausteine in der Weiss 'correlation' Technik verwendet. Diese Technik verringert die (bereits schon kleinen) Unperfektheiten der Wandlerbausteine weiter. Die analogen Ausgänge sind in diskreter Klasse A Technik aufgebaut. Eine Ausgangsimpedanz von annähernd Null Ohm garantiert, dass der MEDEA Wandler selbst schwierige Lasten ohne Probleme treiben kann.
